Problems Getting Started
#1
I have an evaluation version of your system and I am trying to get it set up to give it a try. I setup the config file with what it seemed to need and I have the database ready to go. My issues and observations so far:

Ioncube
Ioncube was an issue on my (virtual) server but that seems to be sorted out now. They don't automatically default to making it available (even though it is installed and maintained). I had to set up a local php.ini to be able to use it.

Documentaton
I haven't been able to find / access any documentation that leads me through the install process and addresses common issues. I suspect that I'm missing something because this isn't all intuitive. I tried to access the documentation folder (in the browser) and it just gives me a blank screen.

License
This is where I'm stuck at the moment. I copied the license to the phplicengine folder. When I try to run the program, I get an error:
Fatal error: The license file is invalid. in Unknown on line 0
If I try to run the install (by using .../install in the url) it gives me a blank screen.

Please let me know what I need to do to get past this point.

Thanks
Chris

Hi,

You are welcome to PHPLicengine.
As about documentation you should consult with the wiki. The url and login is in "Order Status" email you got from us. As about license.dat file if you did not alter anything in license file, may be you are trying to install it on another domain than the one you did place the order with us?
Thank you,

Thanks for the info. I missed the reference to the wiki. I had a look at it and that leads to a question. In the config, I made the package_url and the package_secure_url my_website_url/phplicengine but it appears that all you want is the base url. Is that a correct interpretation of what I'm seeing in the Wiki?

With respect to the license url, my site is http://mysite.net and the email with the license shows *.mysite.net so I presume that would allow it to be used in the root or any of the sub-domains. Could the package_url be causing the problem?
Just to be sure, I copied the phplicengine files to the server again using binary instead of auto. I also changed the config file to make it the base url without the phplicengine directory name at the end. Tried it again and no change.

Both of them should be the base url to your PHPLicengine, not to your website root. i.e.
$package_url = "http://mysite.net/phplicengine";
$package_secure_url = "http://mysite.net/phplicengine";
But this has nothing to do with "Invalid license file" error.

Make sure all files permission are 644 and all folders are 755. Also look at your phpinfo and make sure your ionCube Loader version is greater than 3.1.24.
Thank you,

I discovered that you should have www. in base url in $package_url but your $package_url is wrong and you should access your website with http://www.mysite.net/phplicengine . So I guess that your ionCube Loader is outdated that it doesn't work without www. What is your ionCube Loader version according to your phpinfo?

Well if change is progress, I guess that I am making progress. I found that I didn't have the db host defined correctly so I have changed it. I also added a www into the config file definitions and on the url line in the browser. I also changed the access on the license file from 400 to 644.

fyi: The Ioncube version is v3.3.14

The result of all this is that I still get a blank screen if I use the URL for the install directory directly. If I use the base url for phplicengine, it tries to redirect to the install directory but it it doesn't include phplicengine in the url so it just gets an error.

You should not try to access the index of install folder but install.php file in that folder: http://www.mysite.net/phplicengine/install/install.php

Double check if you have the followings in config.php:
$package_url = "http://www.mysite.net/phplicengine";
$package_secure_url = "http://www.mysite.net/phplicengine";

well, I discovered why your license is not working without www. because when ordering you did enter the second domain wrongly and this is licensed on:
Server restriction: [EDITED]
As you see the second domain is a typo, anyway, I fixed it for you and you should re-download the license file from your account and upload/overwrite it on your old license.

With the new license, I was able to get through the installation. It then tried to take me to the Admin facility. That didn't work because it didn't include the phplicengine directory name in the link. I modified it manually but then the system gave me a "License is invalid" message trying to access the Admin facility.

I am able to go to the home page and the other three pages in the home page menu with no problem. It is only the admin page that is giving me this error.

Your admin login issue is fixed now, as about wrong url this is because your $package_url and $package_secure_url in your config.php is wrong, just compare what you did set for them with below:
$package_url = "http://www.mysite.net/phplicengine";
$package_secure_url = "http://www.mysite.net/phplicengine";
Thank you,
